Director Training

Director’s have a choice when it comes to getting the training they need.   Andy Poprawa President and CEO, DICO has indicated that;
“Section 92 (1) 13. Of the Act - a person is disqualified from being a director if "one who has not met the training requirements or qualifications for directors established by the credit union".  That 's the only reference to training in the Act or regulations.  It is clearly the credit union that establishes the nature and scope of the required training.”

It is clear that credit union board’s of directors in order to comply with the regulations and their fiduciary responsibilities must seek the best governance training they can find.  The regulations are not prescribing any one particular course or provider but are mandating that to the board themselves.  The board’s must chose the courses that best fit their needs and fulfils their responsibilities as board members.
